IUI (Intrauterine Insemination)

IUI is a simple and commonly used fertility treatment that helps increase the chances of pregnancy. In this procedure, specially prepared (washed) sperm is directly placed into the woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation, bringing the sperm closer to the egg for fertilization.

IUI is recommended for:

  • Mild male factor infertility (low sperm count or motility)
  • Ovulation disorders
  • Unexplained infertility
  • Cervical factors affecting sperm movement

The procedure is:

  • Quick, painless, and non-surgical
  • Done as an outpatient procedure
  • Usually takes only a few minutes

It may be combined with medications to stimulate ovulation for better success rates. IUI is often considered as a first-line fertility treatment before moving to more advanced options like IVF.
